Upcoming programs in Denton invite the community to explore color, wellness, watercolor, mosaics, cardmaking, and drawing.
DENTON, MD (10/10/2026) — The Foundry Art Gallery, located at 401 Market St. in Denton, will highlight its November 2026 programming with Peace Starts Here: 4th Annual Main Street Banner Auction, a community celebration supporting local artists and displaying 11 original banners. The month’s lineup also includes hands-on workshops in watercolor, mosaics, iris-folded cards, and drawing, along with ongoing writing and music programs.

Designed as a follow-up to Dennis Hall’s Watercolor for Beginners class, this intermediate workshop will help participants build their skills through two approaches to watercolor painting. During the 2½-hour class, participants will experiment with abstract techniques and create a fall- or winter-inspired landscape using professional-grade watercolor paints and paper. Learn the Art of Mosaics! | With Joanne Gelles | Saturday, November 14, 2026, 1:00–4:00 PM, and Wednesday, November 18, 2026, 6:00–7:30 PM | $75 per person for both classes | Located at The Foundry Art Gallery, 401 Market St., Denton, MD. In this two-part workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of mosaic design and construction while creating an approximately 8" x 10" project from colorful glass and pottery. The first session will cover project design, base selection, adhesives, safe cutting techniques, and assembly. Participants will return after their projects have dried to learn how to grout and finish their work. Available bases include a glass frame, plastic or metal tray, plant pot, Wedi board shape, or wooden cutting board. Participants may instead bring a special item of their own measuring approximately 8" x 10". This beginner-friendly workshop introduces iris folding, an eco-inspired craft that originated in Holland and transforms materials such as junk mail, wrapping paper, and fabric scraps into decorative greeting cards. With guided instruction, participants will learn basic folding techniques and create two holiday cards using colorful origami paper and craft supplies. Several patterns will be available so participants can personalize their designs. All materials are provided, and light refreshments will be served. Petrea will guide participants through seven simple, practical techniques artists use to strengthen their drawing. In a relaxed and supportive setting, participants will improve their observational and sketching skills, practice new methods, and share creative discoveries with others. The class is designed for anyone looking to refresh existing skills or try approachable new tools for artistic growth. All materials are provided. The class is open to ages 16 and older. Optional Sketching Supply Bundle: $11. The optional bundle includes a Blackwing 602 drawing pencil and a Strathmore 400 Series sketch pad. Crescendo Club, part of the Music in Caroline initiative, gives middle school musicians a creative space to learn new music, explore their instruments, collaborate with peers, and gain opportunities to perform for the community. The club is open to public and homeschool students.
